Week 5 Update

Last Monday I had a meeting with Clare about my surveys, we went through and made some changes, and talked about how to send the survey out. I have decided to use survey monkey to create the survey, and have emailed a few people about putting the link to the survey up on the main national page, so that the survey will be accessible to those who wish to complete it.

I have finished up my 2D and 3D research and Im currently writing up a summary of the two. These next 2 weeks are going to be very busy as I have a test this Friday, then I have my first assessment due next Friday.

I plan to get my surveys out this week, so that I can concerntrate on my other school work, and once the test and assessment are over I hope that I start getting some results back from the survey.

Week 4 Update

Well where did the last week go. I have started typing up all of the research that I have gathered so far, but I still need to finish off piecing together all of my 3D information before I make a start on my summary. Should hope to have that done today, so that I can start my summary today or tomorrow.

Sadly I have managed to go a week over in getting my surveys handed out, I am hoping that I will get them finalised today so that I can start sending them out to people. I will post up the survey questions once they have been finalised.

I went over my milestone due date this week as I was busy making a start on another assessment, I have done quite a bit of work on that, so now I can refocus my attention on my project.

Week 3 Update

Over the last week I completed milestones 2 and 3 by finishing gathering my research for 2D and 3D websites. I have since then been hand writing out that information so that I can start piecing together my report. I hope to get it all written out today, so that I can then work on my summary of 2D and 3D Websites. I also hope to continue work on my surveys today, and get them done by Thursday so that I can get them checked over by Clare before I send them out.

By next week milestone 4 should be completed, as I would have handed out my surveys, and will hope to start gathering some survey results, and to have my summary of my website research completed. I am going to allow 3 weeks for people to return the surveys back to me. Over this period of time I have a test for a class, and an assessment due for another class so I hope to concerntrate on them over the 3 weeks, while I also work on typing up the information that I have gathered so far for my project report.

Week 2 Update

Last Monday I had a meeting with my supervisor Clare, and she asked me to work on a few things, so far I have redone my project milestones, have started looking at the analytics of the website, and I am still looking for relevant research.

Last week I noted down that I wanted to complete a few milestones by the 2nd and 5th of August. I have completed the first milestone, but I am still working on the second milestone as I ended up finding more 3D information than I first thought. I hope to have this milestone completed by today, so that I can then concerntrate on the third milestone of finishing off gathering 2D information.

By the end of this week I hope to have milestones 2,3 and 4 completed. But I will see how I go time wise this week with milestone 4, as Im not sure if I will have enough time to complete the surveys this week.

Updated Project Plan

Below is my updated project plan:

• Milestone: 2nd August:
• History of websites
• Current Website Requirements
• These two points are almost complete, and I am on target to finishing them off on the 2nd of August.
• Milestone: 5th August
• 3D Website Research
• Milestone: 9th August
• 2D Website Research
• Milestone: 11th August
• Summary of 2D and 3D Website Research
• Finish off surveys and hand them out.
• Milestone: 18th August
• Look at 3D research websites – possible implementations for the current website
• Milestone: 1st September
• Look at current website using ExitReality. Also create a few mockups, to have a closer look at what 3D features could be used if the website was turned into 3D.
• Milestone: 18 September
• Look at breaking the website down into a virtual environment

I am aiming to meet every milestone either before or on the due date, as I have just over a month before I have to start handing in assessments for other classes, and would like to get all of the research and possible implementation out of the way while I have the time to, so that I can focus on getting my seminar for my project completed once all of the research has been carried, so then I have just my report and poster left to complete for the project. This would then leave me just over 7 weeks free for report and poster work, and two of these weeks are during the school holidays which is a great bonus!!

Project Update

I had a project meeting with Clare today at lunch time. Was good to talk about my project progress and what I need to focus on in the coming weeks.

Below are the following things that I need to work on at the moment:

• Redo my project plan with new milestones
• Keep looking for relevant research
• Look at the analytics of the website e.g. how many people visit it
• Start to think of questions to ask people about the current website, as well as asking them about 3D.
• Look at SpotOn3D, HyperGrid Business and Exit Reality

I will post up my updated project plan a little later, I need to go through everything that I have done so far to determine when to set my milestones. One thing I need to consider are the other 2 classes that I am taking this semester I need to allow time for them as well as my project!!
